Oiled suspension points instead of grease zerks? A new on me.
My 1930s Mack EE Chassis has the most unusual shackles...the end of the spring leaves are held in a giant rubber clamp enclosed with even bigger forged (?) bolt-together boxes.
Totally alien to me. However, no looking for new shackles and pins.
I finally understand the TRUCK quality difference between Ford Chevy Dodge International Mack.
Chevy frames are so pretty...graceful...but much more car-like. My pared-down 1934 1.5 ton Chevy frame COULD pass for a 1/2 ton frame.
Ford and Dodge are a step up. More truck-like. Deeper, wider channel. Thicker gauge. I recently pared a 1934 Ford 1.5 ton frame down and disassembled a two-ton 1946 Dodge.
International is a TRUCK. Generally speaking, everything is bigger and stronger. Although I have to admit the C-30 frames are kinda wienie. I've had several C30s apart. I'm not impressed.
THEN we have MACK. My goodness. The frame looks like skyscraper girders. Everything HUGE.
I now understand why you would buy Mack. The two-speed differential center-section is as big as an old auto engine.
