valve job questions
After struggling through several issues, no spark (thanks cornbinder), timing and fuel I finally got My 233 GRD started. Once running and up to normal operating temperature I noticed it was running very rough. Adjusting the carburetor had little effect, so I pulled out My compression tester and the results are as follows.
#1 cyl. 95 lbs
#2 cyl. 81 lbs
#3 cyl. 90 lbs
#4 cyl. 75 lbs
#5 cyl. 30 lbs
#6 cyl. 90 lbs
Squirting oil into the cylinders had no affect. So I pulled the head and found the #4 exhaust valve cracked and #5 exhaust valve was burnt.
My questions.
How do I remove the valves, I pulled the side access covers but not sure how they are removed. ( I don't have a manual)
Should I replace all 6 exhaust valves and intake valves or just the 3 exhaust valves.
Egge Machine lists the exhaust valves for about $23.00 each.
Should I replace the valve guides also.
Thanks for any help, I'm sure I'll have more questions.
