Cornelia
Welcome to OldIHC.org, the world’s largest web site dedicated to classic, vintage and antique International Harvester Corporation (IHC) trucks. We have close to 4,000 active members in our forums with trucks ranging from Autowagons and Six-Speed Specials to the K,L,R and S-Series  and Scouts, on up to the big Loadstars and much, much more.  So if you are a fellow “binder” owner seeking help on a project or restoration, or would simply like some camaraderie; you’ve found the best site on the Internet – and it’s free.  The site is not operated by a nameless organization either – it is operated by a fellow truck-lover, like yourself.  My name is John Hansen, and I happen to be restoring a 1953 International Harvester R-112 Series pickup.  And believe me, with my budget, I’ll be around for a long, long, time.  So come join us!

As a quick introduction to the site, you’ll find free classifieds on the “Classifieds” tab, our member truck galleries on the “Our Truck Pics” tab, our famous forums on the “Truck Talk” tab, an International Harvester-related shows and calendar on the “Events” tab, a slick map of all of our members on the “Members Map” tab, site-specific news and updates on the “Nuts and Bolts” tab, and a very special cause on the “Matt’s Truck” tab. Be sure to explore and check them out!

Finally, the Old International Harvester Truck Special Interest Group, our mailing list, fosters the enjoyment and fun of restoring antique IHC trucks. Through the OLD IHC SIG, IHC truck restorers, owners and other interested parties can exchange information while maintaining the camaraderie and good fellowship of an online-internet based truck owners group.

TOTM – January 2012 – 1925 IHC Dump Truck Model SD

1/17/12 – I had hoped to post this sooner, but recovering from the crash took longer than I had hoped.  Nonetheless, you will enjoy this excellent write-up submitted by Lehman Orluck about his 1925 IHC dump truck that he is currently restoring.

Lehman was not only kind enough to write up an excellent article on the background of the truck, he sent us some excellent photos as well - be sure to check it out!

Happy Holidays

12/20/11 – Happy Holidays from OldIHC!  May you enjoy a Merry Christmas with your loved ones and friends, may you get all those tools you wanted from Santa, and may your truck projects go smoothly in 2012 :-)

Happy Holidays from OldIHC

TOTM – December 2011 – 1924 Model 63

1924 Model 63 12/14/11 – Slowly getting back on track, and we have a very special truck to highlight for December – a 1924 International Harvester Model 63.

This amazing truck is owned and currently being restored by Graham Armstrong.  Graham was kind enough to write up an excellent article on the background of the truck along with its specifications for you – be sure to check it out!

American FlagIn Honor of Those Who Served

11/11/11 – A heartfelt thank you to all those who served, and especially those who sacrificed – that we might be here to appreciate these old trucks and each other.

I came across a very sobering article in the New York Times this morning and hope you will take the time to read each and every one of these submissions as I have.

TOTM -  OCTOBER 2011 – 1917 MODEL F

On Oct 1st I logged on to the Old IHC site to see Truck of the Month. It wasn’t there. Then I found that my friend and the administrator of the Old IHC forum, John Hansen was in the hospital with Pneumonia.

Our prayers are with you John and Susan, get well soon. (Jim Hadfield)

The October Truck of the Month is Mike Miller’s 1917 IHC model F one-ton truck.

You can see from the before pictures that Mike did a lot of work to get this truck looking so great.

New Feature – “Truck of the Month” (TOTM)

IHC Old Logo - Copper8/28/11 – Starting this coming Thursday, September 1st, we will be featuring one of our member’s vehicles each month on our home page and Facebook page.  We have amazing restored and unrestored versions of significant International Harvesters of every era that these people are rightfully proud of.  You’ll be able to not only learn about the vehicle itself, but a little about the owner and International Harvester history, which is also part of our heritage.

To make this first year even more fun, we will be featuring trucks in a somewhat chronological order, in an attempt to feature trucks from each significant milestone in International Harvester’s rich production history.  International was once the third largest truck manufacturer in the world, and by the activity within this site, you would never know they weren’t still.

OldIHC Members – You Should Be Proud

Matt and His Truck

Matt and His Truck (June, 2011)

7/12/11 – Just received a heads-up and link to an article published by Rick Epstein of the Hunterdon County Democrat in New Jersey a little while ago.  The article is about the Delia family and Matt’s Truck, which thanks to members of OldIHC, has made one special boy and his family VERY happy.  This is when a truck is so much more than just a truck.

Members of OldIHC are the primary contributors to the fund for the Delia family established back in March, which allowed them to get the old International Harvester dump truck home and start restoring it.  More importantly, it has allowed Matt, a very special young man, to realize his dreams by working alongside his father to restore his truck with him.

Take a moment and read the entire article “Raritan Township mom says old International Harvester truck saved her family.”

“Nuts and Bolts” Tab Added

6/29/11 – To make it easier for folks to keep track of site changes and updates, I’ve added a new tab called “Nuts and Bolts”.  Be sure to check it fairly often as I will post any upcoming software updates and therefore maintenance outages here as well.  I have also moved the spammers list there so it is not cluttering up the home page.

New “Events” Feature Launched

5/17/11 – We’ve added a new page to the site for “Events”, which can include any International-related swap meet, show or event.  It is based on Google Calendar, and also depends on user-input for submissions.  So if you have a new show or event to add, please let us know!

OldIHC Carries On…

Jim's K5

Jim Hadfield's KB-5

5/12/11 – Those who follow the forums know that Jim Hadfield, the founder of this site, is retiring after starting OldIHC almost 13 years ago.  Jim has done an amazing job with OldIHC – THE best source on the Internet for information on classic light-line International trucks (and many of the heavier trucks as well).  While Jim is not disappearing completely, he has decided to pass the torch along to a new truck addict to run and maintain this site for you.

Will I be jumping in and making a bunch of huge changes? The simple and straightforward answer is no.  BUT, as always, we will continue to strive for improvement in all areas to bring you the best site possible as we move forward.  At present it is just Nick and myself with respect to managing this site – I may seek additional volunteer help via the forum.  In the meantime, we’re just settling in after a recent move to a new server, so we have a few bugs to work through.

The bottom line, though, is that the site has come through better than ever, and my good friend Jim hasn’t fallen off of the face of the earth – he will be able to enjoy this site as a member now, and the rest of you can enjoy the site as you always have.  You just have someone new to pick on for your needs – John Hansen, a fellow binder addict like you.

Thank you for everything, Jim, and take it easy now – you deserve it.
