Are you doing a frame swap or bolting in a different suspension? When a friend was over looking at my truck when I started the resto he suggested if I wanted 4x4 that it looked like toyota landcruiser axles would bolt right in, same track width, which would make that part of the project quite fast and painless. I passed on his offer as I wanted something that would ride better and due to my location I already own a 4x4

Track width of a scout 800 might suit your application a bit better.  If you already have the parts.. disregard.

I have pondered a K2 swap onto an early 90-s ford ranger chassis,  I could even keep the original bolt pattern and have the 4.0 liter engine which produces as much power as many of the older v-8's.  That would have to be my 102nd project.  I like your idea- Good luck with your build!

I have seen some people do the frame swap thing.Did not whant to go that way.I think a 42 IH frame is a hell of alot stronger than anything made today. You can bolt or weld anything to them.Had a small clearense problem with the front springs.Had to move them outside the frame. Also have steering isues with stock scout box.Mite have to go with a ford box.Mounts inboard frame not out like the scout.

Both axels are in.she sits about 6 inches higher than stock with the spring over work.mite have to get some bigger tires in the future but I like it.stereing work is next.got a 97 ford box for free, hope to make it work with home made draglink.more picks at photobucket/ace 1942.
