OfflineDoes anyone know where the low air pressure buzzer is located on a 1962 R185? Mine quit working, but when I turn the key on I hear a click in the cab from the area between the top of the steering column and the bottom of the dash. Is that where it is? I can't get my hands on it and I can't see it with my trouble light. I was going to take off a rectangular plate right under the steering column and see if it's there. It looks like the attachment bolts for this plate nearest the driver hold up the steering column.
Any help would be appreciated.

OfflineWell, I answered my own question this afternoon. It's located on the top side of the channel-shaped piece of steel that ties the dash to the firewall and it's outboard bolts are part of the steering column support. It takes a contortionist to get to the bolts holding it in but I finally got the support out and on the bench. The buzzer I have has three wires attached to it but no air lines and looks kind of like a horn relay. I guess it gets it's air signal from the air pressure gauge somehow – maybe it's grounded and buzzes until the air pressure reads 60 psig or above. One of the other wires is powered when the ignition switch is turned on – not sure about the other one. Since my buzzer worked intermittently I'm going to leave well enough alone and just replace the switch. If the wires are long enough I'm going to mount the switch on the bottom side of the metal support for ease of future maintenance.
BTW – is this the proper place to post for this size truck or should I be in the L, R, S, etc. forum? My truck was sold and used as a semi-tractor in the Vincennes, IN area and I intend to restore it that way.

OfflineI would look for the low pressure sending unit on the engine side of firewall and not too far from the treddle valve (brake pedal). look for air connections and wires. Possible to be on the air tank as well. MM

OfflineThe low air pressure switch is air pressure activated (60PSI cut-off) and connected to the buzzer/warning light via wire. They can be mounted in a variety of places, some on the treadle valve, some on the firewall as MM said,on/near the gauge even under the cab.Usually not very far from the dash though,at least the ones I've changed. Not sure where they are on an R model, there's a member or two who have them, maybe they'll chime in with it's location.
The links are for picture reference to give you an idea of what the switch may look like.
This type is what you likely have, they can have 1 or 2 terminals.

This is another replacement for a single wire switch.

OfflineHere is a picture of my low air pressure buzzer I took out last night. It had three wires going to/from: one from the ignition switch and two attached in the vicinity of the air pressure gauge on the dash. I did finally get it working by tapping on it but I'll go ahead and get a new one anyway. I'm going to mount the switch on the bottom side of the steel channel support for ease of maintenance in the future.
How do I just post the link to these pictures instead of inserting them – they're way too big! I've got them in Photobucket.

Offlinethe pics worked fine for me…
if you want to insert a link from photobucket, just copy the link then paste in your posting window. if you want to be fancy, you can use the link button in the toolbar but not really necessary…

OfflineI see only 2 terminals on the buzzer which is all I've ever seen, it's a "universal" type.
The closest replacement for yours is probably from Velvac as it has the same type screw terminals.
http://velvac.thomasnet.com/it…..s-/036043?
Also gives you more mounting holes which might make it easier to move.
That one & the Cole-Hersee 4099 (blade terms) are the easiest to find.
If you can't get one locally, the cheapest I found in a search (using 036043 buzzer) was on ebay.

Also found them at twice that price.
