About the wood I used for the truck bed:
Its green washed tong and grove apitong hardwood , use extensively in the industry for truck trailer beds.
Its supported under with uni-struct spacers and fastened on the existing metal bed with recessed 3/8 brass ship bolts , locks and nuts drilled through and attached to the under bed ribbing.
I also used it for the bed stakes supporting the crown and on the tailgate. The stuff is a very dense grain
and harder than oak planking.
Strong box goes with it , including the Kennedy box in the corner with all
tools required for tune up , Timing light , Dwell meter and more.
The truck is a labor of love all around. I want to keep the flag & pole as they
were used with the truck during special military presentations over the years ,
Final note of importance:
Though not 100% original due to some wood enhancements that include a tailgate insert,
rear bumper , bed crown and interior details to this otherwise all
stock refurbished rig.
All wood enhancements including the interior cab doors ,the kick-panels , the headliner ,the cab floor and , the exterior running board trim strips , Some of this not shown in these posted photo lots.
as well as the tailgate are fastened directly to original components in such as way , so not to alter the integrity of truck as build. No metal screws ect..
