Tanks Paul, looks like I need a rubber set before touching it, my rubber probably won't survive,

L and early R is a lot easier,

looks like you have to turn the door inside out to do this,

I have a wing with perfect glass on a shelf,

one in my truck is bubbled, wonder how hard it is to swap just the glass, or is that recipe for disaster

Re: S series wing windows

When I replaced the glass in my R vent window, the glass shop insisted I take the old glass out first. On a hunch, I sprayed WD-40 on it, and it slid out easy from the setting tape. Took it to the glass shop with the new window, and they set it in new tape. But that would still require removing the vent window from the door, so probably not a time or labor saver. Not sure how you would get the glass set in with the frame still in the door, but an old timer at a glass shop may have done it hundreds of times.

Re: S series wing windows

I may try that, I've set glass before,

if I can get glass out of shelf wing, then out of truck wing, swap them,

my wing frame is good in the truck,

Re: S series wing windows

The wing windows on an IH are very much like an old ford. Replacing the glass is very easy. WD40 is a good product to help soften the rubber setting tape. I use an OLFA knife to separate the glass from the rubber. AS gentle pry between the glass and the vent frame should get the glass out. Easy does it.
Any glass shop should be able to supply the glass and cut it for you. I paid about $15 and that included a roll of the rubber setters strip.
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have

Where did you find a new seal kit for the s series vent windows? I haven’t had any luck with tracking one down.
Thanks

Re: S series wing windows

The seals I bought through Classic Cars something or another on Epay were the only game in town 5-6 yrs ago. Have a seat before they tell you how much they want for them, and try not to be disappointed in the fit and quality. As of now my seals look like they're 40yrs old (mind you may truck is outside 100% of the time, but come on... The outer layer is checked and cracked. No amount of pushing/pulling could get them to lay well in the corners ( I guess I could have cut/glued them, but geeze). They were better than nothing, but not by a whole lot. I'll do custom one piece windows when these fail totally.
