Running Board Removal

Just wondering if anyone had any hints on removing the running boards? I went to remove the nuts underneath and they just spun. Were they supposed to be carriage bolts? I'm guessing that part of it corroded? Should I drill them out or is there another trick that I'm missing?

Re: Running Board Removal

there is a spring type clip in the channel similar to the type holding floor bolts, you May be able to reach something in the channel to jam it, Or push up on the board to see it you can jam the spring clip while you use a electric nut driver to unscrew the bolt,

Edit, was thinking of 50s trucks, nevermind

Re: Running Board Removal

The running boards are held in by this bolt and flat bar washer. If you can't get out, just cut and buy new bolts. And just make the bar washer. Nothing special there parts wise.

Re: Running Board Removal

I reproduced those running board washers out of laser-cut stainless.

Re: Running Board Removal

chapindesign I understand you can or do make the locking washers for the rear axle on the KB series. This is the washer that locks the nut after tightening it. If this is correct I would purchase 2 of them.
