56 S 110 pickup

I have a 56 S-110 pickup. 6 cyl straight block, cylinders are cracked. Assumed it was a BD 240 but stamped on engine block is AG 59499 R
and 6 21 8

Any ideas what this is?
I still have everything except the completely stripped block.

thanks

Is the stamp you are looking at just below the head on the block on the passenger side? Front passenger side of the engine? Should be a machined model number and not a number on the cast?

Re: 56 S 110 pickup

Front corner of the block, passenger side, just below the head, is a machined surface with the engine size STAMPED into it.

Not CAST, but STAMPED.

Re: 56 S 110 pickup

On my original motor that was in my 56 that area is smooth it had never been stamped from what I can tell. My replacement motor is stamped there and the 51 I had was stamped with a motor ID too. Just so the OP knows once in awhile that area is blank.

cut and paste: stamped on engine block is AG 59499 R
I wonder if the AG means agriculture.
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have

Re: 56 S 110 pickup

I doubt that IH would use AG for Agriculture...since all their ag engines were designated C-[displacement].

Examples:

Farmall Cub engine was a C-60.
Farmall A/B/C was a C-113.
Farmall Super A/Super C was a C-123.
Farmall H was a C-151.
Farmall M was a C-248.
Farmall 806 was a C-301.

No reason for IH to deviate from that pattern, as far as I can see.

Re: 56 S 110 pickup

guess I'm not sure yet what side this was on. trying to verify from pics. the 6 21 8 is a tag. The AG 58498 R is cast.

Re: 56 S 110 pickup

are there any parts off this engine where the number (if there is one) might ID the engine? thanks
