Auto makers non-automotive brands.

I am trying to remember all the brand names the big automakers used for there home appliances.
Philco was Fords radios and TV's
Hot Point was I think GM's stoves
Cold spot was GM's refrigerator brand
Kelvenator was Hudsons (later AMC's) refigerator line
Kingsford was a brand Ford sold charcoal briquets
Air-temp was Chryslers A/C line
Please add to or correct the list

Old IHC made and sold home appliances
From 1919 to 1979, the FRIDGIDAIRE company was owned by General Motors
Volkswagen make a Freestanding refrigerator OBRB153BL
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have
Thinking risks being controversial and possibly being offensive

Kingsford was Henry Ford's answer as to what to do with all the small pieces of wood scrap left over from building early cars and trucks that used wood in the bodies. His manufacture of charcoal using what would have been throw away's made him even more money.

I was wrong, Colds spot was Sears brand, until the re branded it a Kenmore. Hot Point was separate and later part of GE.
So lets keep going. I know many made home appliances, and of course stuff for the war effort.

Re: Auto makers non-automotive brands.

Most if not all the appliance brands from the automakers are no long owned by them today, as they concentrate on the core business, but back in the Hay-day of the 50's they all had other lines of consumer products to keep consumers in the "family".
Swedish Electrolux has the patent on the continuous absorbsion cycle ammonia refrigeration. My Dometic branded fridge has Electrolux workings. Now another mfg is making the same unit still with the Electrolux guts.
Delco made "lighting" plants for the farm before the REA.
The White sewing machine company was one that broaden so much that it became the down fall, Making heavy trucks, farm equipment and just about everything else one could think of. The at one point owned GM's heavy truck division for a short time before Volvo bought it and White collapsed. Now White farm equipment is in name only, like IHC and Case farm equipment, being owned by Tenneco, White is owned by AGCO.

Googling around I found Toyota makes houses, boats and sewing machines. The list from Honda (jet airplanes to lawn mowers) and Hyundai goes on forever.

GM makes bat houses for brown bats out of recycled battery covers. :?

And I forgot Ford had its own civilian aircraft division with Tri Motor Ford and during the war built B-24 Liberator bombers for the government.

Most also had a Defense Div that made or make all kinds of stuff for the military, from generators to fighting vehicles.

I always found it funny that Willys couldn't meet the quota for Jeeps so Ford built them too. Many of the WWII Jeeps were FoMoCo.

Many companies submitted bids and/or designs, once one was chosen, many mfg collaborated on production. It was a time this country pulled together to survive, placing nation over profits.
