Newbie in Naches Wa

Hello guys. My name is Ryan and I bought my first International last weekend. I have always had classic vehicles but this is my first International.

I just picked up a 1955 (or so the title says) R-162 dump bed. It shows 47K miles on the odometer and I was told I am the third owner. first owner was from new to about 2003 and the second was 2003 to last weekend who used it for a mobile dumpster for his construction company. It is running, driving, and dumping. It was even registered up until a month before I bought it.

I recently moved to the Yakima WA area from northern California for work and have purchased 10 acres to build a new house and shop on.

I have already spent hours reading on this forum and others to learn what I can about the truck before buying and I am excited to keep learning and contribute myself.

I will upload some pictures of the truck here shortly.

Re: Newbie in Naches Wa

here she is loaded up on the trailer to come back from Clarkston to Naches:

the trailer was rated for 10K and weighs 2500 empty so I was a little over but she handled it just fine for the entire 200 miles.

here is the door tag with the model and stated that the orgiional motor was a BD264. I scraped the dirt and oil off the motor and confirmed it does still have the original BD264 with the original serial number so this was a good surprise vs the 240 the previous owner said it had.

Ryan,
Great Looking; and solid truck! Sounds like you will put it to good use, too.
Thanks for sharing the photos. They are always interesting.

Thanks for the pics and welcome to the site!

Looks like you've got a nice, straight truck there.

Welcome,
I know exactly where Naches is. Have hunted that area for years in the past. I also have a R series truck. Keep posting. I would be interested in the heater hose hook ups on the engine. Enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
Dennis,
I will need to do something with the heater hoses soon. right now everytime the engine warms up I get steam coming out of the heater vents so I am assuming the heater core has a leak so I will need to fix that and make the heater fan work as it currently is not functioning.

Hi Ryan,
Somehow I missed your reply, sorry. Good luck with your project, looks like a good one to start with.
Curious how wide your bed is. My R150 doesn't have one, so I am looking or maybe have to build one. So that is the reason for the question, I would think yours would be the same as what I would need.
Have fun

Re: Newbie in Naches Wa

I will get you some measurements. I haven't measured it yet but I do know it is skinnier than a modern flatbed. If you end up building one let me know. I am not that far away and am pretty decent with metal fabrication.
