I bought 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 Dana 44 axles for the extra width. The Jeep Dana 44 was workable in the front because of the frame narrowing. The rear clearance to the frame was just OK, but when the box was mounted tires hit the box. I thought our clearance could pose a problem, so I bought wider axles.
My Grand Wagoneer Dana 44 axles are for sale soon
After looking at your transfercase and the transfercase I bought, I think both units are New Venture Gear 241. The T'case I bought is a 241C. The "C" says the input drive splines are Chevrolet/GM and match the TH475 automatic splines.
While these engine swaps are not "rocket science" a modification like this can give a small appreciation for what an engineering team must include in a design change. Our closest contact point is where the starter comes close to the frame. Our frame will get the Crescent Adjustable Wrench" treatment. I will roll the edge of the frame up just a little.
