Re: BD240 valve cover

Thanks lbesq

Does anyone else have experience with this?

Also I did order the VCG that I don't need to get the grommets but all I received were 3 metal washers, not the rubber that I was hoping for. Any suggestions on where/how to get those?

Re: BD240 valve cover

I was able to get a rubber gasket on rock auto. I felt better about using it versus cork. I also ordered the Valve Stem Seals FEL-PRO SS13294. I was able to use three of those around the bolts on the top of the valve cover.

I found some grommets from McMaster Carr that fit very nicely. Had to buy a bag of 25, so if you want 3 of them, send me a PM.

Re: BD240 valve cover

I just found what appears to me to be an exact replacement for the valve cover grommets for BD and BG engines. Ford part # B9A-6570-A, for ‘54–‘62 Ford with aluminum covers. From what I've seen on my engines, these are a match. The SD's use the copper washer, but the BD and BG have about a half inch hole for the 5/16 bolt. And if you really want it fancy, you can use threaded rod for studs, a chrome washer and chrome acorn nut on top of the grommet, and go to the show.

Harvey- Love your colors, puts mine to shame. Just installed the new engine -all black- I did leave a lot of shiny clear coated stuff- distributor, oil filter, water pump, coil. fuel line, etc. Also used a silver hi-temp paint for the manifolds. Would send a picture if I knew how.- Stickman 207

Hope you figure out the pictures stickman, would love to see them! I think I have the colors I want nailed down, but would love to see other options.
