Re: Turned the corner

Well, let's just say I wasn't daydreaming during the removal. Was by myself. Not many options when flying solo. Although, I have been running machinery for 40 years, so if you pay attention, and take your time, you can do some fairly "close" work........you just can't be in a hurry (and save the coffee for break time).

The whole truck was in that same condition except for the grain bed and the clutch. Old girl must have been taken care of because everything worked when I got her. Body shop guy says she is a excellent condition for her age. The South Dakota climate didn't hurt either!

more pics if the weather holds. Will finish the frame and the wheels next. Thinking about the engine. Kind of a shame to not paint it, but I really don't feel like taking her out right now either. She runs good. I could probably paint it in place, and will have to noodle that a bit.

Re: Turned the corner

I see you have the rare mud shield under the manifolds. Most PO's pitched those the first time they did maintenance.

Re: Turned the corner

It's great to see a man attack his own projects, rather than hand 'em off the the "speed, powdercoaters, and frame/bondo" specialists. Looks like a fine endevour!!!

Is that an F20 or F30 in the background? I love that stuff.

Re: Turned the corner

Great pics. I really enjoy seeing other projects. When I removed the cab on my K1, I invited 3 three friends over and we each grabbed a corner. It was heavy.

Re: Turned the corner

Thanks for all the good comments guys. Bud, that is a 1928 Regular in the background. I also have a 1938 F-30 NT, a 1936 F-30, a 1938 F-14, a 1937 F-20, a 1938 F-20 NT, and a 1936 F-12. Love 'em all, but the F-20 is probably my favorite of the bunch. I also have a full compliment of the letter series, but I am seriously considering getting rid of them, and focus on these old girls. While I have enough storage space for now, I also could save a little money on the 2nd garage I rent.

Intent is to use the KB to haul these old girls to shows. I may be crazy, but I thought it would be very cool 8-) to haul an International tractor on a period correct ( at least for the letter series) International truck. Each a neat display piece on it's own. The F series was a tad earlier than the KB series, but this truck came available at a reasonable price. I would have gotten a D series if one was to be found. I am sure no one will give me grief around hauling a 30's tractor on a 40's truck. I guess I could say that I just delivered the "new one" and was bringing the "trade" back to the dealership......... LOL

Re: Turned the corner

Bill, the mud shields are there indeed. This truck was pretty much 100% stock except for the horn. Seriously, I have not found anything not IHC on it so far.

Re: Turned the corner

Sounds and looks like a fine collection of F series McCormicks. I'd hang on to 'em too!!! And, Tom, take a peek at the photo gallery of the site for a look-see at my DS-35.

Here's a little F-12 that we fixed up for a local Museum.
