Re: Quick Build Update.

All kidding aside, I hope you and your hand get better soon. This may not seem like that big of a deal right now, and it never was for me until I arrived at 60 years old. I am going to be 72 soon enough and everything that I abused over the years hurts, now. I am assuming that you are a younger person.

Thanks. Yep, I'm a 48 year old cameraman, so I'll have some issues for sure...shoulder is close to going.

Re: Quick Build Update.

Just a heads up on where I'm at.

Two rear fenders have been epoxyed and primed. Both front fenders stripped and ready to epoxy and prime and just stripped front grill. So have a day of painting to do. Have been striping by hand on all of this and I think I will have the bed and cab blasted.... I will just take too long and kill me on effort. Plus the bottom and all...

Just wanted ya'll to know I wasn't slacking. It's just slow going with two hands.

Re: Quick Build Update.

Another update on the restoration.
Finally attacking the bed, it needed the most metalwork, so I did a lot of the work end of last summer and fall and just finished tailgate today.
Ready for basting.

Epoxy spayed.

Had tons of fun with these little bad boys, had a little rust behind the do-dads. :t3716: Had to fix three and patch holes on backside of all three. Right where the bead roll is of course...

Filler work on bed sides all done, ready for another round of epoxy then filler primer.

And now for the tailgate that I feared... Had a pretty bad bend on top rail and had to cut the section out. Cut new piece from DOM tubing. Bottom rail totally rusted out. Had to add new bottom rail with DOM and tack right angle lip around front and a piece for the backside.

No too shabby if I don't say, all worked out very well! I didn't know how I was going to fix that thing...Took a lot of beers and long deep stares at it.
Next is to re-epoxy, then filler primer and then, on to the last bits, the cab and doors. Which needs no metalwork, just blasting and epoxy/primer. :t0213:

I can sure relate to the "head scratching". You did a great job of rebuilding that box. Congrats!

Re: Quick Build Update.

Slow day, so though I would share some more pics. (Arms are too tired to sand today...)
So, Cab, doors, and last of smalls blasted. Guy did a great job, no warp-age anywhere. Epoxy-ed and first round of high build primer. Also fixed cracks in steering wheel and re spayed, along with column and shifter.
Now I'm in sanding mode....no too bad, just tedious and slow by hand. Don't think I have the experience to go at it with a air sander... Durabocks I think, are keeping me straight with cross sanding.
