The rubber tube is a leftover from a service gone wrong. It's funny, not evil.

Re: Rear axle questions

I found one of those threaded wood pegs that held glass insulators on the cross bars of communication poles. It was in the crankcase of my 1938 John Deere D. (Sold)

Luke,
Are you sure you have looking at my truck? I have done a lot of work in the last year but not much you can see from the outside. The last thing to do is a new set of tires and then it will be ready for the road. I plan on making the body work my winter project.

Re: Rear axle questions

Luke,
I have put new floor boards in but they are not what I want just temporary. The front of the truck I need to strip off all of the old layers of paint but not too bad. The really bad part is the bed it has two foot hole rusted in the middle of it. It is a step side and I am missing one of the fenders. I have been looking for fenders for a year and found nothing.

It will be a long winter.

Re: Rear axle questions

Wow sounds like you have your work cut out. 2 Ft rust sounds interesting. I had a pretty solid bed, but it was absolutely battered, so i cut it out and lowered the bed 3.5" over the chassis and then made a wooden floor. That took me a very long time to do, maybe a year working on it once a week for a few hours at a time.
