I'd like to change my answer to where are oil passages on SD for $600. Alex.
the oil return on a SD motor's head is down the holes the pushrods come up thru, so next to impossible to not drain back down into block, there will always be some oil laying in the recesses of the head casting,
I think the terminology being used here is being misunderstood (at least by me),
now you say you are struggling to remove valve cover, but how did you see no oil in head with it on?
I think you mean the tappet cover on side of block?
