Removing vent windo glass

Need some advice. What is the best approach to removing the vent window glass? Both are bubbled and one has a crack. Is there a rubber liner in the glass channel? Appears to be. Want to try to salvage the glass to use for a template for a glass shop if possible. Any tips and tricks much appreciated. Any fluids you found that help with removal....WD40 possibly?

WD40. Absolutely the best. Let it soak in for a few hours or over night if you can. I used a narrow nylon pry to start the old glass moving. Start at one end and take your time. Sometimes, sliding a thin knife, like OLFA between the glass and the old setting tape will help.
When you have the glass out, this is a good time to glass-bead the frame inside and paint with Tremclad or Rustoleum.

Thanks a bunch Nikkinutshop. When installing the new glass....is it held in place by friction with a gasket in the channel? Seems ya need something between the glass and channel to seal out water. It's exciting trying something new and having great results.

The material looks like thick rubber tape. Your glass shop should have some and show you how to use it. No glue required. It is a press fit. Some glass shops use WD40 to make assembly easy. A rubber mallet is what i used to set the glass. Cut the excess setting tape with a knife.
You Tube. May have a video

Make sure the glass shop grinds the relief into the bottom of the new glass. You will need the relief for the pivot in the bottom.
Your vent glass frame looks like a good candidate for glass beading.

Yep, the vent frames will be beaded and painted before I add any glass.
