Gas pedal Grommet

Is there to be a grommet in the opening where the gas pedal arm goes thru firewall? Seems like a large opening. If there is to be a grommet to close up the opening, what is a good source or a good alternate solution? I can also close the gap when I install carpeting at some point.

Perhaps a piece of felt to "slow" the inflow of stuff?

Google International Harvester accelerator pedal dust boot. It's part number 86543R1. I bought one from Southland International in Canada but they are available from other outlets and simple to fit.

I've never had one in mine, I might look into it if they aren't expensive.

Yes, That is what it looks like. As I stated, the IH part number for my AL-110 is 86 543 R1. I was not aware they fitted the Scout range but that shouldn't be a surprise. The boot I bought for my truck from Southland International was $16.68 Canadian so even cheaper than the one listed on Ebay you found. They are very effective. I drive on a track that is dusty in summer and wet in winter so the boot is helpful. I did find the perished remnants of an old seal on the accelerator pedal rod.
