Oil Filter Housing

It seems all other IHC trucks have the Deluxe style filter however I have this one. Can anyone help identify it and what filter should be used? It has a 51156 in it right now and I believe it is missing a washer and spring on the top. It almost seems like its a Canadian truck thing, found another online that is supposedly from Canada and has the same style filter housing.

Re: Oil Filter Housing

In your last picture, I can see what looks like a decal on the canister. Does it by chance say " Deluxe" on it ?
Because my canister looks just like yours, but the decal on mine says "Deluxe".

Re: Oil Filter Housing

Mine doesn't have a decal on it. It has Purolator cast into the lower portion of the housing. Tried Google for answers and I can't find anything.

There's a few other trucks on the farm I can check for the sticker. The one parts catalog I have has a Kralinator filter and housing listed but it's too tall to be this one.

The way it's set up with that filter in it it doesn't filter anything, it flows through the bolt and right back to the bottom on the ID of the filter. It doesn't seal around the threaded part of the base so it can't flow through the filter media.

I'm sorry, this is off topic but did you just replace the fuel pump? If you did where did you get it. I have been looking all over for one with no luck.

Re: Oil Filter Housing

Thanks for those links however they all seem to say the same thing regarding the deluxe housing with the t handle on the cap using the 51002 filter which doesn't fit my truck. The newer style base on the s series has to large of an opening on the bottom and doesn't seal around the bolt.

I pulled the cover off of the other truck sitting and found a WIX PC 1-K filter inside. Some research found that a Fram C4 is a possible replacement. Now to find a gasket for it. 5 3/16 OD and 4.75 ID

Re: Oil Filter Housing

Found a WIX 51100 will probably fit best. It comes with a gasket that should work.

Re: Oil Filter Housing

I think I have one of those filters that a parts house gave me by mistake one time (mine uses the sock type filter), it's just been sitting on a shelf for the past fifteen or so years. If someone would like it I can go look for it and double check the number on it.

Re: Oil Filter Housing

Those look just like the filter cartridges on a Farmall or Ferguson tractor. If by chance they work on the IH 6 cylinder engines they would be much easier to find and change.
