Sometimes you can pick up a set of split rings for free or next to nothing because a guy will believe that they are the infamous Firestone split rims. I worked at a tire shop while I was in college and wound up changing pretty much all the split rings that came in because they didn't make me nervous. Like Lloyd said with the right tools they aren't difficult to change.

I was doing some research on this as well and it looks like you need to make sure the rims and rings are in good shape and properly seated that they are not as dangerous as the split wheel type. I think it would be a good idea to have a cage or have someone do it. I do like the looks of these wheels though.

I've used a long hose on my compressor when I've filled them so I could be out of harms way. Some guys will mount them backwards on the truck for the initial fill which will act as a cage.
