Re: Fender Screws Mounting Block

My 1940 Ford had these fender bolt clips. I used two per side where the inside space was not accessible for a fastener and Nyloc nut. I did not use these cheap shyte clips and lag bolts to hold the fender on my R120. I was able to reach behind and use stainless 5/16X24 tpi fasteners. Fender washers help to distrubute the load at each fastener point. Old OHC no doubt used these lag bolts and clip-nuts to make assembly faster on the build line. Make it better. Those old style clips will scratch new paint and rust will follow.

That's it, the one on the left.

IH made their bolts at West Pullman factory.

**** right. Many of them had the IH on the bolt head.

But then, we can act as if West Pullman didn't exist, if we so choose. After all, all the parts books are wrong and IH stuck anything a customer wanted onto/into these trucks, I've been told. They just printed the manuals for their own amusement anyway, to hear some tell it.
My posts contain my own opinions...your mileage may vary, void where prohibited, objects in the mirror may be closer than they appear, and alcohol may intensify any side effects.

So, why would you care? After reading your recent posts, you have more to worry about than an IH labeled bolt.
