Removing the Front End Clip

In the near future I am going to be removing the front end clip on my 56. I am wondering about the rear bolts in general but am also interested in any other tips that might help. When I had the engine out of the 51 I left the clip on and had no trouble getting the engine out and back in but the 56 sits so much higher I really think I should remove the clip to pull that motor.

So how many rear bolts per side? I'd like to start soaking all of them in Kroil well ahead of time.

53 hits and no input looks like I'll just have wing it.

Re: Removing the Front End Clip

Every time I took the fenders, inner fender aprons and the grill off one of these trucks, I removed it in separate pieces. There are lots of bolts. Penetrating oil is a good idea. I don't remember the number of fasteners. Just wing it and you will be OK. I did not have any helo with any of the 14 trucks I took apart.
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have
Thinking risks being controversial and possibly being offensive

I should know but it's been so long since I've taken front fenders off one...

Re: Removing the Front End Clip

Mike here is a shot of the rear fender mounting on my R150. Bottom, just forward of the door and the two large holes accessed from inside the pocket in the cowl. Three small screws up the angled area and two vertical at front of cowl. These small ones are for the inner fender. Two others in front of radiator at bottom of the grill mounted on rubber pads. Could be a couple others at radiator for inner fender. I took mine off as an assembly. Was easy with some help.

Re: Removing the Front End Clip

just disassembled a R series, very similar, I don't think clip is meant to come off in one piece like a KB,

I tried removing whole, but there are a billion nuts and bolts, took it apart in sections,

same thing with an S series 2 years ago, good luck

Re: Removing the Front End Clip

Thanks guys! I'm one step closer to taking the front end off. Yesterday I took the box off, that was easy 6 bolts and my hot wrench, now it takes up a little less space in my small garage. Your help continues to make this project move ahead.

Remove front clip. When doing this I would clamp flat bar or something across when lifting the clip off.

Re: Removing the Front End Clip

I used to remove the front end of the two L 184 that I had In the past, in one piece.
Now on my L 130, I have done the same.

Screws per side:

Fender to cabin, under the fender 8
Inside the fender to fire wall 2

Under the grille to chassis 2

On the grille top center , the light wires are 3: One for the parcking lights, one for the high beam and one for the low beam.
