Driver door popping open. Can the catch be welded?

My driver door catch (the part on the cab itself) has worn away. I can't tell what metal it's made out of. Anyone welded those up and re ground them? There's no rust I can see. It could be aluminum but haven't really focused on it yet.

I had a similar problem but had no trouble finding replacement catches as they seemed to be used on many different models. I will take a look at the worn catches I replaced sometime but, off the top of my head, I don't think they were ferrous.

I am late getting out to the shop, today. I will check the latch plates that I have and let you know what I find out. All L,R and S door jam latch plates should be the same.
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have
