Toyota steering gear in S102

Looking at doing power steering in the S 102. I read a while back somewhere a Toyota steering gear would work out of a 78-80’s 4x4 pickup. Is this correct and has anybody done this?

I remember this being talked about. Do a search with "Toyota steering box" or Toyota steering gear. The first gives more hits.

Think it was the late 70"s early 80"s?

If I recall, it was like 70's thru '85 or '86.

Required modifying the pitman arm , IIRC.

In the L,R,&S build off section of this forum one of the members has posted Photo journey of my R120. Click on the link and follow the pictures. I don't know for sure, but the guy building this R120 may like to post some details of his work.
His steering box is a Saginaw, Made in USA. The steering shaft and universal joints look like something from Flaming River or Borgeson
Keep it simple with common easy to get parts. The Toyota steering is likely metric and fitting parts may be a challenge.
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have
Thinking risks being controversial and possibly being offensive
