R-110 Tail light switch

The attached photo is of a switch attached to the end of my master cylinder. Can anyone confirm? And since it no longer functions, does anyone have a work-around?

If you got an indication the image was too big, use the "paint" program on the computer to reduce the size by about 40%. That generally works.

Re: R-110 Tail light switch

I do not like or use the OEM pressure switch like you describe. There are other "dry" mechanical switches that can be added into the system. My limited experience with the wet pressure switch is, a very short service life. Corrosion is another fail factor in these wet switches. Any brake fluid other than DOT 5 is hygroscopic and attracts moisture from the air. The brake fluid is often not isolated from the atmosphere in these older brake systems. Moist air can enter through the ventilated master cylinder cap.
My 1940 Ford OEM system had one of those wet pressure switches, and, of course, it did not work when I bought the Ford in 1984. The much modified Ford now has a modern dual circuit system with a Bosch Hydroboost. I made a custom bracket to hold a quality normally on/normally off push button switch. When the brake pedal is at rest and against the switch there is an open circuit. When the brake pedal is activated the circuit closes and the LED tail lights are activated.
I used this FORD F truck brake pedal switch for 20+ years on my R120. This Ford switch requires the linkage at the pedal to be loose.
Understanding how this switch works may be better understood in a You Tube video.

Re: R-110 Tail light switch

IF you want to use original set up, they have low pressure ones now that activate when you barely press the brake peddle, not like old one that only comes on after you've stopped,

I put one in all my Internationals, guy has sold 454 of em, so,,,,,,,,,

Re: R-110 Tail light switch

Ron Francis, the "king" of street rod wiring, offers this low-pressure switch:

It uses the slide terminals used on the C-series ['61-'68] Internationals.
