On napa's website it shows as being available but when I called the store to confirm they said they do not carry it and they don't have any at any of their warehouses. :(

Are pistons from an SD-240 the same as for the BD-240? I didn't realize that there was such a thing as an SD-240.- Stickman 207

SD & BD straight valve engine use same pistons, tilt valve BD uses different pistons than straight valve,

there is SD-220 SD-240 and SD-264

Be very leery of the ag water pumps in a truck application.

WHY?

Heater hose fitting. [Farm tractors didn't have heater hoses, so the water pump for a tractor lacks that fitting.]

You're welcome.

Kevin- You may find that past and present simply ships your water pump to Terrell Machine in Texas, marks up the repair bill, and charges yous hipping both ways to Texas and back. That is what happened to me with my D-2 water pump. It failed quickly (bad bearing) and I had to send it back. I had a very good experience with Feltz at that company so I suggest you deal with them directly if you need water pump work. - Stickman 207

Re: '56 S-120 Water Pump

Then and Now does their own work. they don't ship it to someone else. Well known for their fuel pump, motor mount and water pump restro's.
As far as AG pumps, as long as the inlet and outlet work, the pulley flange is in the right place, heater connections can be added if needed. If you bring up the picture, there are a couple of pipe plugs that could be replaced with a heater hose connection.
Water pumps are simple things, if the impeller is good, a industrial seal can be used to rebuild yourself if you are mechanical. My 269 pump needed a new shaft, so had my friend make one out of stainless, installed a industrial pump seal, and has been grand for over 20 years.

BD is a engineering upgraded SD motor, I think mostly with oil filter being flow thru rather than bypass, SD were all straight valve BD was either straight or tilt valve,

then BG was upgraded BD, I'm not sure what it entailed and if they were only tilt, someone else may know more,
