'56 S-120 Water Pump

I need a new water pump. Does anyone have a current source for them? I know rockauto used to have them but they are not listed now for the 220 engine.

I found this part number online but I only find that it is listed as obsolete or out of stock everywhere.

I believe if you do some searches, you will find one or two outfits that can rebuild them. I know they have been mentioned on some of the threads. Hopefully someone can reference them to you.

Re: '56 S-120 Water Pump

My experience with Rockauto: On at least 2 occasions, I wanted to order an item, but their system said they had none in stock ( this was after I had looked at their site several days before, when they DID have the item I wanted, but, I spent a few more days "shopping around ", eventually decided to order from them, and, ..........none in stock. God, was I p....d at myself !!!!!!!!!! ).
Then, those several days, maybe a week or 2 later, I looked at their site again, and, miracle of miracles !!!!!!!!!------------ they had like 4 in stock, or 6, or something !!!!
So, my point is, just because they have "none in stock" when you look, don't assume they'll NEVER have them again------unless time is really critical to your project, give them, say, a week or 3, then check back.
Like I said, it happened to me on at least 2 occasions.

Re: '56 S-120 Water Pump

Thanks for the quick responses!

Ibesq - yes cardone said I could mail my water pump to them and they could see if they can rebuild it. They said they have about an 80% chance of being able to rebuild it. They would not give me any kind of price range until they see the pump.

paul h and bedrockjon - THX!! that one does look very similar. Have you used that exact one? I says it doesn't fit a '56 s-120

stickman - my motor has "220" underneath it

oldihfan - thx ill keep looking

Re: '56 S-120 Water Pump

your motor has 220 on the pan, all the SD motors have the pan, when SD motor was introduced, the first size was 220 cubic inch,

they stamped out a billion pans with 220 on them, when the 240 and 264 were developed they put 220 pans on them too, the motors all look exactly alike from outside.

if you want to know what size your motor is look at the flat raised spot on right front corner of block just above generator,

should have serial number and either SD-220, SD-240, SD-264, unless someone transplanted a BD or BG motor in it,

they all use the same water pump, except motor with harmonic balancer has a slightly longer shaft water pump,

Ok. lol about the oil pan. thx for the info. It looks like the motor says BD240 388761. I think the serial number on the door plate says S55429. Is that the correct spot to look for the serial number? Attached are pics. thx for the help!

Re: '56 S-120 Water Pump

door tag is chassis vin, and engine vin is probably the one on your title, Most Internationals titled off the engine number back then,

per your facebook post there is a rebuilt one available from Napa $85, bring yours in with you to compare it to height of pulley flange,, you have to give the core anyway
