Re: So how much do you actually drive yours??

Right now, not a lot. I live a couple towns over from my job so I now commute in a Toyota because it saves me a ton in gas. If I worked and lived in the same town I'd drive my pick-up or my Caddy daily. I grew up in a house in which a 66 Travelall was the family car. When I turned fifteen I bought my L and it was my daily driver through college. When I acquired my 61 it became my daily driver for about five years. My 61 is just my work truck anymore and my L needed a valve job and that has evolved into a complete tear down of the engine.

I drive my 52' L110 only a couple times a month venturing out on back country road excursions. In Texas they put restrictions on use if you have Antique Plates (i.e. car shows, parades, club events, etc) so can't use it for daily driver. Figure if I ever get caught I'll just give'm the ol' "I'm out on a maintenance run charging the battery....Mr Officer" :whistling2:

Drive my '53 R110 every day. Starts and drives no problem, even when it's cold. I have regular tags and State inspection on it. In PA no need for emission control for something that old.

I've put over 3000 miles on my 55 R110 since March of 2017 and they're adding up everyday. But it isn't stock.

1953 R-130. Just got it back on road after repairs from an idiot sideswiping me while I was hauling logs to mill, and breaking rear spring, bending hanger and wheel rim, and tearing hitch ball off (also bent a trailer axle and broke two springs on trailer).

I haul welder, go shopping at scrapyard, haul logs, gravel, sand, lumber....Hauled a 12 x 60 mobile home a hundred miles several years ago, and once a seven-ton generator set on a three-axle trailer (That was too much, but made it home).

Re: So how much do you actually drive yours??

I drove my R120 4X4 Diesel every day for 20 years. The miles I drove totaled 225,000. The miles went on easily. The axles were Dana 60 with front discs. I made a disc brake kit for the rear. The calipers for the rear were Cadillac funeral car and Herse rear calipers. These calipers have a built in parking brake. I a person decides to use these calipers. it is important to understand that GM made only the left caliper and it was installed at the 11 o'clock position. The caliper for the right rear side was mounted at 5 o'clock position on the axle. .
I added power windows, tilt and power steering, Automatic and Gear Vender Over Drive. The ride was not too bad because the suspension was air springs and height control valves from Holland Neway.
I gave the R120 to a friend and I have not seen it since. It was my Father's Binder. I learned to drive in that IH.

My L110 was my daily driver from the time I was a teen all the way through college. Once it is back on the road again this fall it might well become my daily driver again.
