Any of the Big 3's inlines with an auto would be the easy way out, but I can understand the challenge of fitting an auto to the IHC 6's .
AN IHC T/F 727 wouldn't exactly be 10 for a nickel, but if I could find one, I would check to see how well it would match up to the IHC 6

Re: engines used in other applications

Hi I have done a lot of looking at picture and looking for info its surprising what info you can find if you kick a few stones as you go .
I have found very local a scout 11 tf 727 transmission complete with flex plate torque converter and kick down linkage but is missing the bull gear . Would this be hard to find ? it is totally non electric so that helps a bit as i still run 6 volt system looking at all info i have collected it appears the old 6 cyl bell housing bolt pattern is on a circle and the scout is looking the same I am sure someone has tried to fit them together. The torque converter looks huge but it is what it is i am thinking i need to find someone with a bell housing from a diamond engine that is not in a truck to take pictures and lots of measurements or who would make a gasket for it and send it via snail mail to me so i could compare the two . this would keep everything IH but still got in the back of my mind a Chevy with overdrive would be nice also easy to find parts or get repaired if need be . i am on holiday after Monday night flying to some sun sea and sand for a week so no posting but i will return !! to annoy everyone

What our you calling "bull gear" ring gear? On CHry it is normally on the T/C but not sure in IHC applications, it may be on the flex plate? I also don't know if the SV crank bolt pattern is the same on the I-6, I would doubt it, but it is possible.

I think the bull gear in question is for a 4X4 that goes into the transfer case. My best guess.

Likely need a 2wd tailshaft for a truck unless you have the mateing transfer case. Since the tailshaft and tail housing are separate pieces, if you have the main case that will fit, you could have the rest of the trans built as required.

It always amazes me the different terms used by mechanics in different parts of the same country! Like someone once said about the US and England, we are people separated by a common language!
That would be a transfer case input gear to me.
