Vacuum advance canister

Does anyone know where I can find a vacuum advance canister for an SD-220? And how do those 3 little plates work to hold the distributer firmly but still allow the vacuum advance to work properly. My truck's previous owner had the spring loaded cap screw so tight that the vacuum advance couldn't work. Once I corrected that problem, things were better but my canister only advances, it will not retard (or release) when the vacuum is disconnected or the engine is off.

Re: Vacuum advance canister

I don't know of a source for new vacuum advance canisters. There's a slim chance you could find a NOS one on Epay. This thread has a lot of discussion about distributor mounting in GD engine.

SD is not much different.

Re: Vacuum advance canister

That is the discussion that I needed. Thank you Dean!
