I know it may be considered “splitting hairs”, but when I measured my trucks original rear width, it was 59.75”. I think I even took a photo of the measurement. I’ll need to research what I did with that pic. I measured with the wheels off, face of brake drum to face of brake drum.

Since we are using idioms this morning, don't pull your hair out over this.

Perhaps I was thinking of something else I photographed similarly. Photo not found, but I'm 99.5% sure of the measurement. I'll never claim 100% sure on anything. Just ask my wife. She's always right.

Another idiom. Sounds like she has you by the "short and curlys" .

Since we now have three different dimensions from three different members, I wonder if it's possible that IH used different housings, depending on (possibly) different gear ratios, different GVWR's, etc.

Re: L110 rear axlws width?

It is possible that Old IHC used a lot of different parts with variation for the same application. I posted pictures of four different L & R door catches. It is possible that a person working on their own, and often even with help will get different measurements in this circumstance. I had a discussion with one knot-head about measuring from backing plate to backing plate not being and industry standard action.
The home shop guy may want to know the bolt face to bolt face with the drums on, the parts department may need numbers that reflect drums off.
I just remembered, I have four different horn button styles, all for the same application.
There could be variations in width form the supplier to the IHC factory. Is the Canadian IHC truck the same as the USA model?
I would suggest that little variations like this do not matter now that the Old IHC parts counter is closed forever. Something close is good enough for reference to a proper width of Ford 8.8 or a Ford E350 Dana 60 for the 120s and 130s.
