The wind is whistling in my cab.

Well Monty is here to stay! But here in ohio cold weather has kicked in and it rather cold and loud in the cab. The heater works great but with wind blowing through the doors and fire wall it makes for a chilly ride. I have peel and seal behind the seat on the cab and the floor board. But the roof of the cab and fire wall is open. I do have door seals on the way. Anyy suggestions for insulation/sound damping?

They sell this in rools and in different thickness. It has adhesive back. Good stuff in my opinion. Google for lots of results. Its easy to install.
You may want to use a different product near exhaust pipes or where exhaust pipes arw close to floorboards. Its a butyl base with a foil cover. Its used in new cars
Adhisive is good. I think it would be hell to get off once its applied.

I have some of that peel and seal stuff on the floor board by the downpipe off the turbo it been good so far. Knock on wood. It also 5inch away from the pipe. Would 80 mil be good? The thicker the better right? How many square feet would it take to do the fire wall, floor, roof and behind the seat?

There is an excellent discussion on this subject that took place starting about the first of Jan., 2014. If you type "AUTOMOTIVE SOUND INSULATION" in the subject search box, you'll get it. Lots of great resources there.............

Re: The wind is whistling in my cab.

Length by width gives square feet. 6x6 =36 floor and firewall. 3x6=18 roof. 3x8=24 behind seat and so on.
!20 square feet will just about line the cab. Buy less and see if you need more. You can line the door skin also to deaden sound. Dont forget under the seat.
All those measurments were guesses. Measure more closely. I would use 80 mill.
It takes heat pretty well, I was just expressing caution. They sell a different type for high temperature.

So I should only need 20square feet? wow. I would have thought I would need like 40square feet. If I have extra I can give it to my brother for his Kb2 build.

I have a lot of the peal and seal on the doors inside and out. Just need to make door skins.

This is the product I buy and use. The prices are in Canadian dollars. If a person does the conversion to USD there is a considerable savings.

Re: The wind is whistling in my cab.

Niki, what kind did you use in the shorty build? Ultimate or extreme. Cause extreme is about 80$for 50 square feet. That I think is pretty reasonable. And I'm a cheap guy!
