Who will fit GDI, first? :)
Most likely I'll get a smaller displacement GDI engine, first. A 4 cyl donor truck.

It's too bad the turbo 4cyl. Eco-boost is a transverse configuration, because with the amount of horsepower and torque it makes, would make for good transplants if it were a conventional in-line arrangement. Surely it would then fit into older engine bays without a lot of interferences.

There are kits made to turn the VW tdi from east west to north South. The Oldsmobile quad four is often turned NS for rear wheel drive. So, maybe the Ecoboost four could be changed. :t3909:

Re: Help: What engine did you swap in?

I have a 79 Datsun 280 zx with 5 speed that the body is rusted away. When parked it ran well. Inline 6 may fit well in an old truck I have been thinking abouut transplanting chassy and all in something, maybe beefed up.
They were good cars. I bought a 79 new and drove it 230 thousand with only a clutch change because I loaned it out. That car sold me on fuel injection. I think they used those engines in small planes
Drawback it's not north american engine in a us built truck.
I get my high on heavy iron, the older and heavier the better I feel.

Its funny, back in the day my user name used to be 52L110, but the site changed, and I lost that login, so started a new one.

My friends and I swapped in a 350TBI into my truck, with power brakes, power steering, and a turbo 400 transmission and a 10 bolt rear.

I wouldn't change a thing.

I'm a fan of TBI. I think it's cheap and easy to work on faux fuel injection without most of the drawbacks of carburetors.
Since it's GM you can scan data from day one. In many cases 4.3L, 5.0L and 5.7L all take the same ECM.
Low pressure fuel pump (13 PSI spec) seems to last forever vs LS motors. I love 'em!

Not quite right....
Mustang is North South and comes with a 2.3L 4cyl eco boost. 233kw, 432Nm, 6spd man/auto. 0-100(~62mph) in under 6sec in a 3657lb coupe
Our locally bred Ford Falcon came with a 2.0L eco boost as an option, is north south and cheap. 172kw, 350Nm, 6speed ZF auto. 0-100km/h (~62mph) in under 7sec in a 1700kg sedan (~3750lbs)

So the parts are out there, you could make it happen :)

Well alright, mate! Thanks for that info. Not sure yet if that is just an Aussie combo or if the 4 banger Eco is available in the US. If it's not available, then you might be getting requests for parts!

Correct me if I'm mistaken but I'm pretty sure you guys get the Mustang over there!?!
Judging by eBay, you need about 20k to get into a registered 2015 2.3L ecoboost Mustang.Probably a little too much for a swap but they'll get cheaper.

I could buy a registered 2012 2.0L ecoboost Falcon for about 7.5k.......... but I've already got a injected 302 Windsor in the hole with a 4spd auto. A lowly 175kw and 400Nm which is fine, if I need more than that it has potential.

The current flavour over here is to put the 4.0L turbocharged ford inline six in just about everything. Ford's best efforts squeezed 370kw (496hp) out of it in he 2016 Falcon FG-X Sprint. A 240kw version can be bought for a few grand for a complete car.
That 4.0L with a handful of bolt ons and a tune is good for 400hp any day of the week with many going well past that, 1000+hp achievable.
