Came here looking for a source to get the 150972R1 brake drums a while back. Real good info on a kind man who puts in new drum linings (3 steps) up in the Chicago area. (i kept the info handy in case i needed the service but went on to look for new ones and found a good source.

The Aero Space Industry Has Them!!! stop looking in the classic truck parts industry if your looking for new brake drums for your 50's era IH . i also have info for the rear and front brake cylinders if you need that.

That's a ton of money, IMHO....

My Question for the OP, did the place he found have the combo drum hub where the studs are swedged to the drum? If that is so, then the price in Not all that bad. But yes there are alternatives. It is Still a good and valuable resource and the possibility is that there might be other parts that they have also.
Just my 1/5 of a dimes observation.

The drum is the same for front and rear.

But the axle hub is MUCH different than the front hub.

So I'm wondering what the purpose of making a drum with hub would be, UNLESS you serviced BOTH front AND rear.

It is true that drum is the same for both front and rear, however, They sold the hub/drum unit as one, because of the swedging of the studs. But back then they were not that expensive as now. If not done properly hubs can be damaged when separated from the drum, and they should not be reused when damaged. Was just a comment. If the place the OP listed has original manufacture drums and not after market reproductions, they will have more material in them. Again, just an observation. I really do not have a horse in this race.

The drums in your links are vastly cheaper then those posted by emil. So what is the difference? At the ones on Amazon and Rockauto complete junk made from tin cans? Anything with this large or a price difference make me suspicious.

sometimes you pay premium for having factory part # molded in it? I had a 1937 Diamond T that used Clark Axles, NOS drum from Clark was $600.00, I found generic replacement for under $150.00 and this was in the 1990s, couldn't tell a difference between them,

I haven't seen/compared these drums in this post, so they Could very well be made of tin cans,,,,

I have NEVER received a "junk" brake part "made of tin cans" from Raybestos. They are one of the most trusted names in brake parts, at least the brake parts used by professionals.
