56 S-100 axles

Hi, I need advice on how to change brgs an seal on rear diff ( 56 S-100, rear wheel drive).. not much left of the outer seal, no oil left in diff.. how do i remove? are the brgs lubed by the diff or grease lubed ?,( pics, part numbers would help.). do i pull them out ?, is there a clip holding them in?, what holds them in? will this change any settings in the diff? Thanks

Terry, here's a couple scans of what you have, stock in the S-100. The bearings and seals have part numbers on them, you can cross reference the numbers. I am not sure if you need a puller for the 100 like the 110-112 rears are not the same.

Re: 56 S-100 axles

The rear axle in an S100, unlike the 110's and 120's, is a Dana 44, so the parts, including rings and pinions for different gear ratios, are all available. A google search for a tapered axle Dana 44 rebuild should give you all the information you would need for repairs.
