Steering Box Rebuilt

I finally got my '52 L120 steering box finished and re-assembled. Came out pretty well.

Steering box lube

That Lucas hub oil is good stuff for this application. Another lube that I have used in leak prone Ford Model-A steering boxes is John Deere "corn head grease". It is liquid in use and congeals when not. Never use any other type of grease, as it will be quickly forced out from between the moving parts and not flow back in, with quick wear the result.

What did you do to rebuild the steering box? Where parts still avaiable? Or did you have them made?

Re: Steering Box Rebuilt

Actually mine was in quite good shape... I called a company called "Universal" don't have the rest of the name, but they had everything you would need to rebuild one or could do it for you.

I talked to a guy named Brian who recommended the Lucas Hub Oil... said it had "hair" and I agree... it strings when squeezed between your fingers and quickly pulled apart.
