L Series Seat Buns

I am looking for a suggestion for a set of replacement seat buns for my '52 L-120... Anyone fund something that fits the stock seat frame?

Thanks,

What are 'seat buns?"

Re: L Series Seat Buns

A seat bun is a formed foam cushion that more modern vehicles use to give the seat it's shape... the part you sit on and the back support are separate "buns".

The seat in my truck is horizontal springs and some old horsehair padding covered with a tattered piece of vinyl... needs work.

Re: L Series Seat Buns

I bought a really nice NOS seat from MAGIHC Truck Vintage Parts in Merritt BC. The original upholstery is in great shape on the seat set that we have, but we are going to get the set recovered to match the new paint that will be on the L110. I would be willing to take the OEM upholstery off the set. Send me a PM or your phone number and we can talk about the seat. http://www.magihcvintagetruck.ca/

I thought seat buns were like muffler bearings. LOL

I thought "seat buns" were the part of the driver's anatomy that SAT on the seat...LOL!

Re: L Series Seat Buns

Nearly 20 years ago I had the seat in my L re-upholstered. They just replaced the horse hair with some flat foam, and it still sits pretty good. I don't think you need to go out of your way to find some custom foam that will wind up costing you more. Unless, that is, you just want a totally custom seat.

Re: L Series Seat Buns

I am pleased that my R120 seat cannot speak. Well there might have been a time, as I remember, when it would sigh just a little when I got in and sat down. 20 years and 225,000 miles later, the seat has given up and is in a state of full depression, on the driver's side. There is a small piece of the upholstery missing. I seem to remember having it surgically removed a few hours after I was cut off on Highway One, just west of Hope, BC. Thank Goodness for disc brakes or we could have had an Aztec for a hood ornament. MAGIHC Mike has no sympathy. I bought two NOS seats from him, he thinks this should last until I get our of town, maybe. He thinks that I should sit on a plywood box since I have my own upholstery, "back there".
If anyone is interested in the OEM upholstery cover, it is free and how it gets from here to you is something that you will have to figure out. PM me if you are interested. I will sent a picture or three.

Re: L Series Seat Buns

I did find that LMC has a seat of seat foam parts for a Ferd that could be trimmed down to fit.
