I've heard talk in the past about a split exhaust manifold for the 220 and 240 engine. Does anybody know if these manifolds are being made by some company or someone?

I would be interested to know too, by the way 220 manifold is different from 240-264, the ports are bigger diameter & exhaust pipe is bigger diameter

Below engine number 261932, the SD220, 240, and BD264 all used the 3-bolt manifold 79129R11. The SD220 went to the 2-bolt manifold with engine number 261932. Never as simple as it seems it should be.

I did not know that, never seen a 220 with 3 bolt flange myself, but certainly don't doubt it.

ports are still bigger on 240-264 heads/manifolds than a 220, at least the intakes for sure, I'll have to measure exhaust before I claim port size diff. on exhaust.

a 220 intake will Not go on a 240-264 head as ports are larger & locator rings won't go in grooves on head, Now, you Can put it on the head without the locator rings and it will probably work but port sizes do not match.

I found out the hard way when I bought a 220 manifold set to replace the badly cracked one on my 240.

back to split manifolds question, anyone?

That looks more like a BD240/264. From what I've seen, the 282/308 has a shorter valve cover, as the rockers sit down in the head some, and a distributer much higher on the engine, so that it would stick up above the valve cover. I recall something about split manifolds on some Australian engines, but have never seen one.

We need a good after market manifold, split or otherwise. I've had cracked exhaust manifolds on two out of 3 BD sixes. The newer 264s seem to have less problem with cracking. I have one in the B110 with the 3 bolt flange, big pipe. One in the R160, not original, has the two bolt flange and smaller pipe. The spare manifold I bought out of a junk pile at a farm auction was in great shape. It was a two bolt flange as well.

As far as I know these manifolds were an Australia only item. At one time they were still available used in Australia, I don't know about now.

The Australian 281-282-283 was basically a bored out BG 265. It shares the 3 13/16" bore diameter with the C301 ag engine.

I would like to have a complete 283, or even just a set of pistons.

Don't know if this is true but I was told the 240-264 282 exhaust gasket has the same PN. Dah no

Could be possible. I think I still have one in a Fel pro box and they usually list what all engines it fits.
