FORWARD TILTING HOOD

http://www.tinmanfabrication.com/index. ... /prd48.htm

I GOOGLED Forward tilting hood and there were lots to chose from. I built a copy of the design in the link and still have it in a drawer. I have decided to not go with it for now and for no other reason. BMW have had forward opening hoods for decades and the tilt and latch mechanisms are very affordable at the Beemer recyclers. I got the complete set for free.

Re: FORWARD TILTING HOOD

I think the 1940 Fords would be good for a different hood system. The lift and hold open for the hood causes the back to raise up because the hinge design cannot control the force. The mounting points on the hood are very light duty. I have modified one of my canes, to fit, and the cane is a hood prop rod.
Now is not the right time to change the design because the chances of paint being damaged. Anyway, there is no room left for the bits and pieces.
I have to stay focused and try to not get involved in side distractions if I want to finish what we have plans for. I may not have a long time option that includes the shop. Old age is a terrible reward for a life well wasted.
I posed the forward tilt idea to my son, for his L and I got "that look " that said no thanks.
