Getting ready to start putting the old 52 L112 back together but had a question on that rubber trim between the body and fenders. I have the individual parts paint red but that rubber moulding is black and 1/2 inch wide. Do you leave them black, trim them down, or try to paint them before installing. Maybe it will look OK with the black showing but need some advice from experience.

original factory: all parts are painted, then assembled, rubber is natural, unpainted,

most none dis-assembly repaint,s the rubber ends up getting painted,

your truck, do it the way looks best to you.

I have NOS fender to body moulding but do not want to part with it. I have ordered a close match from Metro moulding. I will try to find stock number from last order.

I never liked the thick look of the original molding, so I used reproduction Forty Ford from BOB DRAKE REPRODUCTIONS in Grants Pass, Oregon. I thought it looked cleaner. I also used the Ford molding between the inner fender aprons and the fenders and between the fenders and the grill. A cut-it-yourself roll is $20 or so. The Ford molding is available in lots of colors.

Thanks for the input. I'll check out the Ford moulding. Sounds like that might do the trick. Now putting together a wiring harness. Must have more time than sense but it is a fun challenge .
