A sun gear is the center gear on a planetary gear set. What are you looking for? Input shaft gear? one of the main shft gears? or the counter shaft gear?

the speedometer drive gear is also commonly called sungear, it is located om back main shaft inside gearbox and it drives the pencil gear, which drives the speedometer cable,

which are you asking about?

Never heard it called that, I guess you learn new "slang" every day. I alway refered to it as the speedo drive and speedo driven gear respectfully.

actually pencil gear is a fairly common term

couldn't find a sungear application on ebay for in trans, but a lot for in sun gear in speedo housing,

I got my replacement gear for my KB-6 trans by searching sun gear on ebay.

yah, I've heard them use pencil gear before, just never heard the "sun gear thing". I guess its from my days in a transmission shop, if you said sun gear some one would hand you a planetary set. We always called them driven and drive to keep things clear.

I have some NOS gears, if you are talking about the ones that the cable fits in. Get the numbers off the gear ( I think the are Stewart Warner, and the number startes with SW) and when I get back home I'll look at them. OR as Scott would say, if you can look up the part number, I have some in orignal IHC bags and can look that way also.
