CU> < IN Question

Is a BD 240 .060 over bore = to a 257 CU. IN?

double checking.

Cubic inches = number of cylinders x bore x bore x stroke x .7854 ...right?

A stock BD240 has a 3-9/16" bore...which is 3.5625".
A stock BD240 has a 4-1/64" stroke...which is 4.015625".

A .060" overbore would be 3.5625" + .060", which = 3.6225"

Now, 6 cylinders x 3.6225" x 3.6225" x 4.015625" x .7854 = 248.32 cubic inches.

That's what MY calculator tells me.

Using the formula for volume of a cylinder and rounding pi to 3.14, I got 248.194--so I concur (with Buzzman)!

I've never seen the use of area^2 * .8 (.7854) for area of a circle until I joined the fire service.

Ethan, I have a rebuilt .060 short block and was curious of the increase in CU-IN.
