sd 220 pistons
looking for some STD sd 220 pistons and rings . any help . thanx kevin the rookie from ky

Check the classifieds under parts, there is somebody in Michigan with a SD 220 engine he scrapped but the ad says he has the pistons still for sale - nothing mentioned about the rings, but I have seen links with references to rings recently, check some of the recent posts - good luck! - Bob

There was a change from 4 groove to 3 groove pistons which by the parts manual is determined by engine serial number.
So the question is,do your pistons have 3 or 4 ring grooves?

PNs, You need to know what your looking for, then ask. The correct number asking for .040 is 173163-R91

I dont see that number in the general chart, the info is there for different years, dont know if the tilt valve rings are the same, maybe you are looking at is in the manual, they did not change much. Dont know if the tilt valve rings are the same, I assume they are. You better check that number. Triyng to help.
