Gees, I keep hitting post when uploading a pic. My question is...if I bolt through a rubber mount does that affect Engine isolation? I know the front mount had bolts come out either side of the vulcanized rubber so no bolts went from engine mount to frame mount. If I bolt through a rubber mount will I affect the isolation for side to side vibration?

My front motor mount separated from the rubber when removing the motor. I may be able to have a urethane mold made here
at my work to keep the engine isolated from the frame.

You can bolt through from one plate to the other sandwiching a piece of rubber between them. You will definately feel more vibrations because the bolt/nut will have a direct metal to metal connection with the steel on both sides. It won't be as bad as having no rubber at all, but I'm sure it will be a little more "buzzy" than the stock mount.

I too will re-cast one someday, but for now I'm is still in one piece. Let us know how you make out with yours.

Thanks Jake. I was going to do that until a co-worker that works a lot with urethane said he could make up a fixture bond a new mount for me.
So I plan to remove the old rubber and sandblast the parts and he'll take care of it from there. I'll post some pics and list the compounds used.

It is surprising what you can get away with for engine mounts. Whoever did the switch from the SD240 to a newer BD264 on my truck took the cheap way. It looks like a hockey puck with a bolt (or is there two?) for the front engine mount. Seems to work fine but I'm thinking I should really get a proper BD 264 front mount for it. They were different from what the SD engines had.
