Re: Windshield Sun Visor

I have on on a travelall, screwed right into cab metal, instead of clamps like a fultan, don't know if it is stock or not.

you have to re-size pictures to be able to upload, right click your picture, go to open with, and open in paint, then on tool bar view, re-size, 25%, that is usually enough,

I continue to use Photo Bucket and I like it because it is easy. I have the option of using a link or copying the pictures to a forum. With PB, I am able to setup albums with links and restrict access to other photos and videos. It is free and easy. Try it.

Re: Windshield Sun Visor

I've been wondering about visors as well. I'd love to pick one up for my '55. I don't know enough yet to make a good purchase though. We they sorta universal fit items or were they designed specifically for each vehicle?

Re: Windshield Sun Visor

I just Googled 1953 IHC sunvisor and got some interesting results when I clicked images. I bought a sunvisor at an IHC Show and shine about 15 plus years ago in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. It was $100 back then. I never used it because I didn't like the sheet metal screw-on method of installation. Much of the pieces disappeared over the years and I gave the remaining parts to Mike at MAGIHC VINTAGE TRUCK PARTS in Merritt, BC. His son Jeff makes a nice replica sunvisor at Back Alley Customs, also of Merritt.

Fulton made universal 3 piece ones that bolt on rain channels, you can search ePay for em, I don't like the idea of drilling holes in the cab either, the one on my travelall is a one piece, don't know if it is cornbinder or someone puked it on there but I don't like it.

Re: Windshield Sun Visor

You know, it's funny. I don't like drilling holes either.
The last x owners of our stuff could care less.
Have you ever seen sooo many holes in firewall, cab, bed, fenders, etc?
I have a friend with a hot rod 30s pickup. He asked me if I noticed anything unusual about his ride. I looked for awhile and then it hit me.
Not a single extra hole anywhere on his truck.
He beamed with pride!

Re: Windshield Sun Visor

Just for comparison, my son and I welded plugs into 40+ OEM holes in our '40 Ford and there are a few left that we need. IHC pickups have fewer factory punch outs. I agree that some previous owners go drill crazy. I have to think that the factory punches a few holes for different applications. My Dad added a couple of holes in the right running board. for towing a square bale loader.

Nikk, have you perfected a way of closing holes? My oldtime hot rod friend starts with a cut-off nail.
I just weld a booger. Is there a right way?
Hooks on the bed are my biggest pet peeve. At two holes per hook you can easily have 20 holes.

Re: Windshield Sun Visor

I have the use of a Rotax Punch at a local sheet metal shop. I punch out a bunch of blanks of different diameters then weld them in. I try to get a snug fit and if I have to, I use a step drill to open a hole to fit the next size blank. I use a Miller Magic 200 and. 023 wire with 75/25 gas to spot weld the blanks in place. Welding on the inside is best. Grinding the inside welds is not necessary because it will be hidden behind the firewall insulation pad.
I don't weld a complete bead but only a few spots to prevent warping. A little filler on the outside and the task is done. Prime before fill.
