I starting the wiring for my truck today. I wanted to remove the headlight switch to inspect and clean it before rewiring it.

I'm good at removing the knobs with a seal pick. However I didn't have a way to remove the bezels for the dash controls.


I cut 4 tangs in a piece of 7/8" od tubing. Obviously they line up with the insets in the bezels.


A small sleeve of 1" od tubing tacked to the main tube strengthens the tangs.



A crappy spare socket finishes the whole thing off.



Fits like a glove.

A man after my own heart, if you can't find the right tool, just make it. I have quite a few home made tools for special applications, like a Case tractor injector wrench, a Honda crank pulley wrench, Webber carb idle mixture adjustment tool, etc.

My kind of guy!!! And the work looks professional.

I like it! I just made a 2" 8-point socket to remove the bearing caps on the front axle of my L-160. After 3 hours of work, lots of filing and a blister, it fit nicely. Only thing was, I could have taken them off with a big pair of channel lock pliers. But, like Bobby Bare sings, "I got 'er, boy. So that makes me... the winner!"

Great job!! It takes that kind of thinking to work on these IH's. Any one can restore a C@%$y from a catalog and a credit card!!!!
