Could someone here help me with the part number and mfg for the oil filter for a 1956 S-100 1/2ton pickup with a inline 6 cyl?

If the filter points upward, wix 51002 or napa 1002

Thanks Guys,
The canister does sit vertical on the drivers side of the engine. I'll have to see if my local parts guy can provide either of the filters(wix, Napa). If not I can always get it on line.

Thanks Again,

Re: 1956 S100 6cyl Oil Filter?

Hi, i've got a 1956 S-120. I've used a wix 51002 and a carquest 85001, but both gaskets that came with the filters were too small to seal once I started the engine. So I've been reusing the same gasket. It's not a huge problem but I was wondering if anyone else has had this situation?

Sure seems like the 1002 filters always came with 2 gaskets in the box, sounds like someone robbed a gasket from both the two you bought. MM

I found the NAPA 1002 comes with two different gaskets. I called a store and they confirmed that they are two different sized gaskets that come with it. I'll try it the next time I change the oil.

I have a '57 S110 (old body style) and when i got the oil filter from a parts store it wouldn't fit in my housing. I went to a dealer and bought the old school original sock filter. They have tons of them on the shelves, of both sizes the tall and short, and they come with a new gasket and I have two or three on my shelf.

Very Cool, do you have the part number? What was the price? What do they have them stocked for, or are the "just" hanging around because some young whipper snapper did not, in his wisdom, decide to throw them away? Inquiring minds want to know. Oh, would they ship?
Thanks for all your info!
