Hi, was hoping someone could give a brief explanation of the differences between a 1954 R-100 and an R-112.

Let me see if I get this right. The 100 of the series is a bone stock 1/2 ton pickup(what ever stock might be on an international) It's carrying capacity was the lowest of the three designations. The 112 had beefed up springs/ and overloads. it was probably closest to the 3/4 ton rating. the 111 was a mid range between the two others. There might be other things to differentiate between them, but carrying capacity was the primary one. I think someone said that the 110 generally came with a short bed and the 112 generally came with a long bed. As always, International would put together a truck the way you wanted it.

Those are my recollections.

Yup I think you nailed it, did some further research since posting and found lots of info on restoring Cornelia. It is indeed a 3/4 ton with higher GVW and payload. Enjoying the forum.

To dovetail...what would the R-120 be then? I'm seeing that listed as the 3/4 ton also.

I will have to correct what I said, On another thread, I was corrected about this. I will put it this way. the L110 would be a light duty 1/2 ton, an L111 would be a little more "beefy" could carry a little more weight, The L112 would be the Heavy Half ton, and probably closest to the L120 which is a true 3/4 ton, and they had their "divisions" also
With all that said, keep in mind that the only true way to know exactly what your truck came with is a Line Setting Ticket. Vary rare for most things in the early 50's and earlier
I am definitely by no means any sort of expert on internationals, I learn every day from all the rest of the folks on here.

Good stuff...makes sense now, appreciate it. Since I'm a noob to IH's any resource for exterior emblems besides ebay? Need the R112.

The only resources for finding stuff like that is: E-bay; Swap here on the forum; Classifieds from here: http://oldihc.info/classifieds/

And there are a couple of other international sites that may have "for sale" areas.

Don't search too hard for an R-112 emblem, they don't exist. R-100, R-110, R-120, etc. are the only emblems produced. None were produced for the 11 and 12 sub-models.
