Front disc brakes conversion

Ordered the conversion kit for my 56 S-102 yesterday from TSM, should be here Friday. I'll take lots of pics of the conversion. I still have to buy the calipers but I wanted to make sure this kit was going to fit first.

They should fit the K/KB 1-3 also? I see they also offer a drive shaft parking brake for a K/KB 5. :D

Re: Front disc brakes conversion

Got the disc brake conversion kit friday and am so far very impressed. It came with the disc, disc spacers, caliper brackets, lug bolts and all hardware to mount the caliper brackets. Got the old lug bolts out this morning and picked up new lug nuts this morning. So far everything has bolted right up without any problems. The old lug bolts actually came out without a problem, two-three hits with the 3lb hammer and they fell right out.

This one you can see the disc spacer installed on the hub along with the studs put into place but not fully set in the hub yet. Used the impact wrench to fully set the wheel studs.

Re: Front disc brakes conversion

Glad to see you got the drums off OK. The angle of the caliper bracket looks like it should get the caliper to clear the shock, but double check to be sure. Nice looking bracket.

Re: Front disc brakes conversion

Finished putting one side of the kit together yesterday and removing the other side brake drum and studs. Hope the disc brakes work as good as they look, just have the lug nuts (installed backwards) holding on the disc.

Re: Front disc brakes conversion

from the web site for them it looks like a conversion would be in the $500 range. that seems somewhat reasonable.

I think when all done I should have around $455 invested in this conversion including shipping.

Re: Front disc brakes conversion

Looks like a great kit...Unfortunately they don't offer it for the 6x7.25 on the 3/4 tons. Anyone know offhand if the hubs from a 100 or 110 will fit a 120 L/R/S?
